J.A.M. KwesT is a San Diego-based reggae band led by singer Jayme Alejandro Mejia (aka JAM.) The band’s high-energy live performances attract diverse audiences, and they’ve opened for such reggae legends as Kymani Marley, Eek-A-Mouse, and Don Carlos.

In addition to JAM on vocals, the band features guitarist Greg Cryns, bassist Andy Flores, drummer Phil Woodring, trombonist Jeff Hodson, percussionist Ty Kiernan, and keyboardist Matt Trout.

J.A.M. KwesT plays several shows a week throughout Southern California at venues such as the Coach House, House of Blues, Ramona Mainstage, World Beat Center, and countless others.

J.A.M. KwesT Biograghy

The Jamaican Afro-American Music Kwest is both a journey and an adventure into the world of all genres and philosophies. Founded in 2009 by singer Jayme Alejandro Mejia (aka JAM), the San Diego-based band incorporates a variety of influences and styles into their reggae sound while paying respect to the origin and foundation of the music. The band’s high-energy live performances attract diverse audiences, bringing together reggae fans and non-fans alike. As a result, they’ve been blessed with the opportunity to share the stage with a multitude of reggae legends, including Kymani Marley, Eek-A-Mouse, Don Carlos and many others.

J.A.M. KwesT’s wide ranging appeal and eclectic sound is a result of the varied musical backgrounds of its members. In addition to Jam’s lifelong passion for roots reggae, percussionist Ty Kiernan brings an Afro-Cuban feel and Santeria spirituality to the group. Guitarist Greg Cryns contributes an energetic rock and funk sound, which perfectly compliments the laid back R&B pocket provided by bassist Andy Flores. Drummer Phil Woodring pulls from his extensive jazz background, and along with classically trained keyboardist Matt Trout, lays down the foundation for Jeff Hodson’s authentic trombone solos and melodies.

The band maintains a busy and varied schedule, playing several shows a week throughout Southern California. Over the last year they’ve played venues such as the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, House of Blues in San Diego, Ramona Mainstage, World Beat Center, and countless others. J.A.M. KwesT continues on their path through 2011, expanding their reach and bringing people together with their unique, inclusive sound.
